How to get the photo
Save the image from the app if it allows it, or take a screenshot and crop it to the photo. Screenshots lose any Content Credentials, so the result will come from the pattern model — that's expected.
Signs a profile photo may be AI-generated
- Every photo is a flawless portrait — no candid shots, no friends, no ordinary places.
- Backgrounds that melt or repeat, text on signs that isn't readable, odd jewellery or earrings that don't match.
- Hands, teeth and hairlines that look slightly wrong when you zoom in.
- The face looks subtly different from photo to photo, as if it's a different person.
- A reverse image search finds nothing at all for someone who claims to be a model, soldier or doctor.
Behaviour matters more than any photo
- Video call early. Real people can do a short live video call. Endless excuses are the strongest warning sign.
- Moving off the app fast. Pressure to switch to WhatsApp or Telegram within a day or two.
- Money, gifts or crypto.Any request for money, gift cards, help with an investment or a “customs fee” is a scam pattern, regardless of what the photo checker says.
What to do if you suspect a fake
- Stop sending money or personal documents.
- Report the profile inside the dating app.
- Keep screenshots of the conversation. If you report to your bank or the police, a Pro PDF reportrecords what was checked and the file's fingerprint.
A “no signs of AI” result does not prove someone is who they say they are — scammers also use real people's stolen photos. Pair this check with a reverse image search.
